Opportunities for Industry

NEPTUNE will require development, construction, installation, operation and servicing of a wide range of systems. NEPTUNE will be based on proven and tested components, but nothing quite like it has been done before. Lessons learned with NEPTUNE will make future scientific and industrial subsea systems both easier and more likely

NEPTUNE offers many opportunities for industry, including:

• developing and supplying remotely operated scientific equipment and underwater vehicles,
• new sensors and sensor miniaturizationsupplying and installing the underwater cable and network,
• developing the communications and control system,
• operating the shore stations,
• servicing and maintaining the system,
• developing and distributing educational materials based on NEPTUNE observations.

NEPTUNE will also offer opportunities to test and demonstrate underwater equipment using the real-time data and control link to shore.

The Canadian NEPTUNE feasibility study needs to be able to describe the level and areas of interest among Canadian industry. This will be an important factor in assessing whether and how Canada should participate. If you are interested in NEPTUNE please let is know.
