As-Laid Details

Barkley Canyon

Node

  • Barkley Canyon Node has been installed. Coordinates: 48° 20.7542’N, 126° 09.4808’W, depth: 653m
  • Two 10km extension cables have been installed and are exposed on the seafloor. Burial of these cables will begin as soon as possible.

Barkley Canyon - Upper Slope

  • Two instrument platforms and a Vertical Profiler System (VPS) have been installed at the Upper Slope science site. This site centres around 48°25.6474'N, -126°10.4747’ W.
  • Instruments and instrument frames (including the VPS) are within a 150m radius of this site.
  • The VPS is currently extended upward 25m from the seabed. This instrument will be moored at this depth until Summer 2010.
  • ALL INSTRUMENTS AND CABLES IN THIS AREA ARE EXPOSED ON THE SEA FLOOR.

Barkley Canyon - In Canyon Sites

  • Four Instrument Platforms have been installed within Barkley Canyon at a water depth of 865-984m.
  • A connector cable has been installed on the seafloor linking the Mid Canyon West and East Platforms to the Hydrates Platform.
  • A connector cable has been installed on the seafloor linking the Axis site to the Hydrates Platform.
    • Hydrates: 48° 18.7266’ N, 126° 03.9480' W
    • Mid-Canyon West: 48° 18.8955 N, 126° 03.4813' W
    • Mid-Canyon East: 48° 18.9042' N, 126° 03.5203' W
    • Axis: 48° 19.0030' N, 126° 03.0087' W
  • Satellite instruments are within a 150m radius of each platform.
  • ALL INSTRUMENTS AND CABLES IN THIS AREA ARE EXPOSED ON THE SEA FLOOR.

ODP 889

  • ODP 889 node has been installed. Coordinates: 48° 40.4722'N, 126° 51.1506'W, Depth: 1256m An exposed cable links the instrument platform to the node.
  • The CSEM Experiment has been installed. The control box is at 48°40.2326' N, 126°50.8538' W. There is an exposed 1km cable running to the SW from the control box.
  • The Seafloor Compliance experiment has been installed at 48°40.1715'N, 126°51.1104'W. The cable connecting the instrument to the main Instrument Platform is exposed.
  • ODP 889 Instrument Platform has been installed at 48°40.2466'N, -126°50.9580'W, Depth: 1256m.
  • ALL INSTRUMENTS AND CABLES IN THIS AREA ARE EXPOSED ON THE SEAFLOOR.

Folger Passage

  • Folger Passage Deep Instrument Platform has been installed at 48°48.8265'N, 125°16.8576'W
  • A cable has been installed to facilitate the future deployment of an Instrument Platform to 48°48.4940 N, 125°16.9200 W
  • ALL INSTRUMENTS AND CABLES IN THIS AREA ARE EXPOSED ON THE SEAFLOOR.
