NEPTUNE Canada offers an incredible opportunity for all researchers involved in the ocean and earth sciences. The real-time interactive design of our observatory will give scientists the ability to respond to rare oceanic events, observe ocean change over decades, and adjust experiments and sampling over time—all via the Internet. The opportunity for international collaboration and interdisciplinary studies of geological, physical, chemical, and biological systems on this scale is truly unique. NEPTUNE Canada’s major research themes include:

NEPTUNE Canada's 24/7/365/25 data collection and archival methods will produce a tremendously rich repository of multi-dimensional data. We intend to make information from instruments deployed on this publicly-funded network available to the entire global research community, and to the general public, in real or near-real time via the Internet, to the maximum extent possible. Beginning 8 December 2009, we invite everyone to explore our growing data repository. Researchers, in particular, will benefit from access to both our live data and ever-expanding archive.

Opportunities are available for instruments to be connected to our seafloor observatory to support both not-for-profit research and for-profit R&D or commercialization work. We welcome proposals by academic institutions, government research facilities, and not-for-profit organisations and industrial/commercial firms to participate.
